Choices Counseling Center provides quality out-patient behavioral health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families in the form of:

Individual Therapy

A method of treatment for emotional disorders using face to face interaction between a qualified therapist and a client to promote emotional growth or positive psychological change.  This service can be provided at home, school, or in the office.


Family Therapy

A method of treatment using face to face interaction between a qualified therapist and a family, which may or may not include the individual client.  Family therapy serves to promote a strong and positive family dynamic to help bring about family unity and resolution of a presenting concern.  This service can be provided at home, school, or in the office.


Home, School and Office Based Therapy

Comprehensive Individual and Family Therapy services for adults, adolescents, children, and families are provided by our team of experienced and licensed therapists.


Anger Management

A sixteen-week cognitive and cognitive-behavioral based group designed to focus on issues related to impulse control, anger-triggers, aggression, effects of anger on the home and children, coping and relaxation skill building, and redirection of negative aggressive behaviors.


Domestic Violence Psycho-Educational Group

A sixteen-week cognitive and cognitive-behavioral based group designed to help clients recognize and eliminate verbal, emotional, and physical violence in families. This group also develops individualized safety plans, addresses anger management, impulse control, self-esteem, and personal empowerment.


Women's Self-Help

A sixteen-week cognitive and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral based group designed for women who need help controlling their anger. This group assists women who have been, or who are currently, combative/abusive to their partners and/or children. This group focuses on teaching women how to recognize their anger triggers, how to develop a plan to ensure they deal with their anger in appropriate ways, and how to create and maintain healthy relationships in all areas of life.


Parenting Skills Group

A sixteen-week cognitive-based group designed to address issues related to childhood developmental levels, discipline, boundary setting, communication, bonding, self-esteem building, coping skills, modeling appropriate behaviors, appropriate familial roles, nurturing, consistency, and other parenting issues. This group is for parents with children of all ages.


The Incredible Years Parenting

A sixteen week cognitive based group therapy for expectant parents and parents who have children 0 months to 3 years of age. This sixteen week course teaches parents how to get to know their baby and how to recognize their babies' stress sounds and signals. This class also introduces the importance of providing physical, tactile, and visual stimulation and educates parents on their babies' emergent sense of self. The toddler topics covered in this course include social and emotional coaching, the art of praise and encouragement, spontaneous incentives for toddlers, handling separations and reunions, and handling misbehavior through positive discipline. This course also teaches parents how to build their own support group to help them through the tougher times.


Positive Parenting with a Plan

A six to eight week cognitive and narrative based group intended for both parents and children (6 years or older) to attend after the family has been reunited. This group focuses on easing the reunification adjustment period for both parents and children through the development of a comprehensive family rules plan which incorporates a token system for rewards and good behavior cards for consequences.


Co-Parenting (through divorce)

A twelve week psycho-educational class aimed at increasing stability and consistency for children through the increased relationship functionality and improved communications between adults. During the first 6 weeks, each parent attends class independently. These weeks focus on understanding how to communicate with the other parent as a parent rather than an ex-partner. Components of these 6 weeks include understanding feelings, learning time-out techniques, identifying positive parenting characteristics of the other parent, and identifying parenting skills and ideas that are important to the individual. During the last 6 weeks the two parents come together in order to created an agreed upon co-parenting plan for their child/children. The two parents also establish and agree upon time-out techniques and other ways to help ensure the success of their co-parenting plan.


Beginning Again

An eight week psycho-educational grief support group designed for individuals ranging in age from 16-80+ who have experienced a permanent loss. The goals of this group are to provide a supportive and nurturing environment, to impart information about the grief process, to normalize grief reactions, to provide a framework for healthy grieving, to reduce feelings of isolation, and to facilitate renewal and reintegration.

 There is a screening process to determine eligibility for the Beginning Again Group. This Group is not appropriate for individuals who have experiences a temporary loss.


Psychosocial Rehabilitation

Individual and Group Psychosocial Rehabilitation consists of a structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with a trained and caring professional who offers support and encouragement aimed at developing the client’s social skills.  Social skills are those communication, problem-solving, decision making, self-management, and peer relations abilities that allow one to initiate and maintain positive social relationships with others.


Case Management

A method of providing links for individuals and families to community agencies and resources in order to ensure that each individual and family has needed support systems in place.
